Registrations for training will still be required in order to view class materials.  Training and test submittal will need to be completed within two weeks of registration or you will be unregistered from the class and will need to re-reregister to complete training.  All training and testing must be completed before personnel can be on the jobsite.

The Damage Prevention and Traffic Safety training course is designed for any person performing excavation, boring, blasting, tunneling, backfilling, and/or temporary traffic control activities within any one of the City of Mesa’s utility service areas.  

At a minimum, the following Contractor personnel shall attend this training and complete any required follow-up activities: Job Superintendent, Foreman, and Operator(s) from Contractor, the same staff from the Natural Gas Subcontractor(s), and any other major Subcontractor as determined by City. Contractor is encouraged to have additional field personnel attend if possible.

 Information discussed in this class includes:

  • Overview of the City of Mesa Utility infrastructure;
  • City of Mesa requirements;
  • The Arizona Underground Facilities Law;
  • How to dig safely when working around underground utilities;
  • Reporting utility damages; and
  • Basic traffic control operations.

For those attending the class as part of the Capital Improvement Project contractual agreement, this will fulfill the requirement and is good for 12 months, which includes any future projects with the City during that period.
